Rap News2 hours ago0 comments

The legal proceedings surrounding the tragic death of Takeoff continue as the man accused of his murder, Patrick "DJ Pat" Clark, has reportedly brought in new attorneys. Clark, accused of firing the fatal shot that killed the Migos rapper in 2022, is preparing for his upcoming trial. This development comes just after a release date was announced for a film featuring both Takeoff and Quavo.

The Accused Murderer's Legal Strategy

Patrick "DJ Pat" Clark, who is accused of knowingly discharging a firearm at Takeoff, has reportedly added new legal representation. According to No Jumper, Clark has recruited attorneys Kent Schaffer, Anthony Osso, and Dan Cogdell. Schaffer has a history of representing prominent figures in the music industry, including Rap-A-Lot Records boss J Prince. Osso has also been part of Prince's legal team previously. Clark is currently awaiting his trial, which is slated to begin in November of this year. Prosecutors believe Clark discharged his weapon at Takeoff during an incident outside a Houston bowling alley.

Details of the Incident

Investigators gathered evidence, including surveillance footage and phone records, to identify Clark as the shooter. Detective statements indicated that video captured the defendant firing a gun while holding a wine bottle. Prints from the wine bottle and phone records were instrumental in identifying the accused murderer. Clark faces charges related to unlawfully and intentionally discharging a firearm at and in the direction of the late artist.

Film Announcement Connects to Takeoff's Legacy

The news of Clark's legal team changes comes shortly after the release date for the film Takeover was announced. This upcoming movie features appearances from both Takeoff and his former Migos groupmate Quavo. Takeover is scheduled to premiere on May 8, 2026. The film pays tribute to Atlanta's car culture and focuses on an ex-street racing icon named Guy Miller, played by Quavo. Quavo has previous acting credits in shows like Atlanta and Narcos: Mexico
