Quavo reportedly owes the Internal Revenue Service a substantial sum. The rapper faces a federal tax lien for nearly $2.9 million in unpaid taxes. This news comes as tax troubles continue to affect several figures in the hip-hop community.

What Happened

Quavo, born Quavious Marshall, was hit with the federal tax lien in January, according to a report from TMZ. The IRS claims the rapper owes money for three separate years. Specifically, the federal agency is seeking $915,660 for 2021. Additionally, Quavo allegedly owes $887,486 for 2022. The largest portion, $1,109,497.79, is for 2023. These amounts add up to a total of $2,912,644.33. XXL has reached out to Quavo’s representatives for comment on the matter.

Quavo’s Tax Woes

This situation with Quavo owing IRS funds follows similar tax issues for other artists. Earlier this year, Offset reportedly settled a $1.5 million tax debt. That payment was made while he was divorcing his ex-wife, Cardi B. The IRS had filed paperwork in late December 2025 regarding his alleged debt of $1,575,266.73 for 2022.

Broader Context

Offset’s tax obligations weren’t entirely resolved. He still reportedly owes the IRS $486,426.35 in back taxes for 2023. Furthermore, he faces another lien from the Georgia Department of Revenue for an alleged $292,000 bill from 2021. Combined, Offset faces roughly $778,426 in outstanding taxes. Quavo and Offset are not the only ones dealing with significant tax debts.

Lil Pump also reportedly owed the IRS $2 million in back taxes back in April 2023. Meanwhile, former rap mogul Dame Dash found himself in deep financial trouble in September 2025. He reportedly owed $25 million, which included substantial amounts to the IRS and various state departments
