Lil Tjay is reportedly facing a lawsuit for assault and battery. The rapper is accused of being involved in a violent clash that left a New York Police Department officer with permanent spinal injuries. This incident allegedly happened inside Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater during a boxing event.

What Happened

The lawsuit claims that Lil Tjay was a disruptive guest at the boxing event. Security staff determined he needed to be removed from the venue. Officer John Przybyszewski was called in to handle the situation. According to the complaint, Lil Tjay spat in the face of a Madison Square Garden employee during the chaos. As reported by allhiphop.com, Przybyszewski alleges Lil Tjay led a violent confrontation.

The officer states he suffered disorientation and severe pain from the alleged assault. Diagnostic imaging reportedly showed serious spinal injuries, including disc damage. These injuries are claimed to be permanent. They may affect his ability to continue his work as a police officer.

Incident Context

The lawsuit further claims that the assault was not random. It suggests it was a foreseeable outcome of significant security understaffing. The complaint alleges that event organizers planned for eight officers but only staffed two. Despite this shortage, the event proceeded with a large crowd. Venue operators and promoters allegedly knew or should have known about Lil Tjay’s past arrests and history of confrontation. However, no extra supervision was assigned. No steps were taken to limit his access inside the theater.

Przybyszewski also states he acted under the direction of Madison Square Garden security supervisors. He claims he had no discretion to delay or decline the assignment. The filing described the scene as uncontrolled and dangerous. This is blamed on the lack of staffing and crowd control measures.

Officer’s Injuries

The officer alleges lasting physical limitations and chronic pain. He is also experiencing neurological symptoms. The lawsuit claims his earning capacity has been significantly impaired. This includes lost overtime, reduced pension benefits, and diminished future income. Przybyszewski is suing Lil Tjay for assault and battery. He is also suing Top Rank and Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. for negligence and premises liability. The lawsuit seeks compensatory and punitive damages
