Exclusive: Kodak Black Lawsuit Over Super Bowl Shooting Dropped

Kodak Black is no longer facing a lawsuit stemming from a 2022 Super Bowl weekend shooting. His lawyer confirmed that the plaintiffs have dropped their case against the rapper. This update comes after a tumultuous legal battle that lasted over a year.

The Lawsuit Details

The legal action was filed by Mark Schaefer and Adam Rahman. They accused Kodak Black of starting the altercation. This incident occurred outside The Nice Guy restaurant in Los Angeles on February 12, 2022. Kodak Black had been attending an event hosted by Justin Bieber. The plaintiffs alleged that Kodak Black provoked the shooter. They sought substantial damages, first asking for a $62 million judgment. A judge rejected that figure. Later, they requested $10.6 million, which also failed, as reported by TMZ.

Lawyer’s Strong Reaction

Kodak Black’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, shared his thoughts on the dropped lawsuit. He told TMZ that there was no settlement involved. Cohen described the lawsuit as “the dumbest, most ridiculous lawsuit I have ever read.” He added that his client decided not to pursue attorney fees. The lawyer stated the plaintiffs would “whimper away with their tail between their legs.” He also issued a warning to other attorneys filing what he called “dopey lawsuits.”

The Super Bowl Weekend Incident

The shooting took place at an invite-only party. Justin Bieber hosted the event during Super Bowl Weekend. Other notable celebrities like Lil Baby, Drake, and Gunna were also in attendance. Kodak Black himself was shot in the leg during the chaos. Schaefer sustained a gunshot wound above his right ankle. Rahman was hit in his left shoulder. Rahman had previously alleged in a filing that he witnessed Kodak Black initiate the altercation. This led to the gun violence, according to his statement last year. Schaefer and Rahman initially listed Justin Bieber as a defendant. However, they dismissed him from the case a few months later
