Exclusive: Gunplay Felt Betrayed By Rick Ross During MMG's Peak

Gunplay recently shared his feelings about the height of Maybach Music Group’s success. He told M3S3 TV that he felt betrayed by Rick Ross. The former MMG artist believes he got the short end of the stick. “Everybody was a group effort.” Gunplay explained. “When it was Gunplay’s turn, it was crickets.” He added that he had hit records but received no budget.

Gunplay spoke about his time with Rick Ross and the label. He felt that while loyalties were strong, his own opportunities were lacking. “If you fk with Ross, you fk with Gunplay. That’s how it was.” he said. “But when it came time for me to get the push, it just felt like a slap in the face.” He also shared that he felt pressured to sell his publishing rights. Apparently, this deal brought him only $25,000 upfront.

Legal Battles and Personal Struggles

The rapper also discussed his legal troubles. In 2023, his then-wife accused him of pointing a rifle at her and their child. Gunplay spent almost two years on house arrest. He reflected on this during a past interview with 99Jamz. He placed much of the blame on his ex-wife. “Who does that bro?” he asked. “I was just at Fleming Steakhouse the night of and like a couple hours later, I woke up and I was like in a cell with two baloney sandwiches in a jumper.”

Gunplay’s Perspective on His Ex-Wife

Gunplay suggested his ex-wife’s actions stemmed from a personality disorder. “She like just flipped the switch like out of nowhere.” he continued. “I did my research and the things that she fell under were NPD.” He described this as narcissistic personality disorder. He felt she lived in her own reality, creating a protective shell. This, he believes, led to delusion
