Exclusive: Drake's "ICEMAN" Update Fuels Fan Impatience

Rap News4 hours ago0 comments

DJ Akademiks shared an update on Drake’s highly anticipated project, “ICEMAN.” but it didn’t include a release date. Fans are getting more impatient with each passing day. Akademiks has been acting as a go-between for Drake and his supporters during the “ICEMAN” rollout. He’s teased the project and its potential release just as much, if not more, than the artist himself. However, the project remains unavailable for now.

“ICEMAN” Development Theory

DJ Akademiks shared an interesting theory about how “ICEMAN” was created during a livestream. He believes that Drake went through a few different versions of the project. Akademiks thinks there were three distinct phases of development. He stated that the third version of the “cookup” came after Drake finished touring.

Akademiks said that Drake told him, “When I was doing this episode sht (ICEMAN streams) I really had to get all these things done in between me doing these shows… It was pretty tough. Now I’m home and I’m locked in. I’m working. Now it’s work.” Akademiks thinks this third iteration will be the official version of “ICEMAN.” He suggested that previous singles like “What Did I Miss?” and “Which One” might have just been tracks to keep fans engaged. This update on Drake’s progress gives fans something to consider while they wait.

Fan Anticipation and Release Rumors

While the update on Drake’s project doesn’t offer a release date, rumors have circulated. Late last month, insiders reportedly claimed “ICEMAN” was scheduled for release this week. Specifically, March 6 was mentioned. However, this did not happen, as Drake allegedly decided to delay things. An X account called INSIDER HUB reported this yesterday evening. The page confirmed to a fan that the delay wasn’t about the album not being ready. It was reported that the first piece of it was delayed or changed.

What’s Next for “ICEMAN”?

It remains unclear what fans were supposed to receive this week. However, Drake allegedly has a timeline in mind for the project. He is reportedly still on pace to drop it as planned. Akademiks also hopes the album has a concise tracklist, ideally under 20 songs. He mentioned preferring around 15 tracks. While he enjoyed the double album format of Scorpion, he wants to see Drake show more confidence with a tighter selection of songs. Hopefully, fans will get a release date and more information soon
